Preemptive goodbyes and a rant…
I heard about the tumblroacalypse late last night and figured that this blog will be deleted for violence/adult content whenever the changes go live. I’ve appealed posts that are not NSFW, but I have a lot that are and I will not be deleting them myself.
I’ve been on this site and have been working on my Fault Lines generational story since 2016 – I’m sad to see it end here but I’m in the process of uploading my content to a wordpress blog, which you can find [HERE]. If you are moving your stories to wordpress, please let me know in the comments so I can follow you there (UN: streetlighthalo)!
I understand that this move was motivated by a decision by Apple to not carry the tumblr app in their store due to it being “unsafe for children”. Let’s be honest, when teenagers use this site and they come across NSFW content, pornbots notwithstanding, it is because they’ve sought it out. If this is the direction that Apple has decided to go in, they may as well delete their browsers from the store as well.
As for tumblr @staff itself, HAVE YOU LOST YOUR DAMN MIND?! You know what your site is, how much adult content it hosts, and what brings people to the site itself, and it’s not for the fucking wholesome content. Having a tumblr app in the app store isn’t going to change that, since: A) Your app is garbage; B) The site is going to lose a significant amount of its user base; and C) Your app is garbage. Enjoy that lost ad revenue! 👍
